The Arts PalettePasfarda and Th!nkArt proudly present: UNDER THE SURFACE, a photographic portrait of the Middle East by award-winning photographer Hossein Fatemi on June 7, 2014.

This exhibition includes never-before-seen photographs that reveal the state of the Middle East’s complex society and lifts the veil on some of the less observed areas of daily life.
Join us for an exclusive exhibition of works, panel discussion, dinner, and an exhilarating musical performance by Bad Mashadi, as we celebrate this region’s rich and fascinating culture, its people and traditions.

by Internationally Acclaimed Photojournalist: HOSSEIN FATEMI. Hossein Fatemi was born in Iran in 1980 and began his photographic career in 1997. Fatemi was the first Iranian to embed with the United States military and in the course of his career has worked in Lebanon, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Georgia, Russia, India, Somalia, Kenya, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. His award-winning work has been published in numerous national and international publications including The Times, Newsweek, Time, The New York Times, National Geographic, Paris Match and The Washington Post.

BAD MASHADI (بد مشهدی) A contemporary fusion of Persian and Balkan music that incorporates Electronica and urban American dance music. The music of Bad Mashadi blends the music of the Middle East and beyond to create an original sound signature. Bad Mashadi is the story teller in a globalized world of cultural conflicts and contrasts.
