01/12/2013 – 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Pasfarda is pleased to announce that it will bring to Chicago the creative husband-and-wife director-and-producer team of Till Schauder and Sara Nodjoumi.
Please join Pasfarda for the Q&A; and a light reception at the Gene Siskel’s Cafe/Gallery following the 3PM screening on January 12, 2013. {General theater admission & Cash Bar}.

THE IRAN JOB follows American basketball player Kevin Sheppard as he accepts a job to play in one of the world’s most feared countries: Iran. With tensions running high between Iran and the West, Kevin tries to separate sports from politics, only to find that politics is impossible to escape in Iran. Along the way he forms an unlikely alliance with three outspoken Iranian women. Thanks to these women, his apartment turns into an oasis of free speech, where they discuss everything from politics to religion to gender roles. Kevin’s season in Iran culminates in something much bigger than basketball: the uprising and subsequent suppression of Iran’s reformist Green Movement – a powerful prelude to the currently unfolding Arab Spring. (

“Striking out in his bid to play for the NBA, lanky, charismatic basketball player Kevin Sheppard ends up on the international circuit, playing in the Iranian Basketball Super League for a brand-new underdog team in the ancient city of Shiraz. As the only African American most of his new friends and teammates have ever seen in the flesh, he encounters some double takes. The culture shock cuts both ways, and Sheppard’s friendship with three outspoken but properly veiled young women who defy the law to befriend him becomes the definitive experience of his new life.” (Barbara Sharres of the Gene Siskel Film Center)
